Supporting Soccer in Victoria
About Us
The Victoria Highlanders Society was founded with the purpose of supporting the Victoria Highlanders FC and promoting the game of soccer among youth on Vancouver Island. Through the development and delivery of programs the Society will promote the growth of soccer and emphasize opportunities for players-locally and internationally.
Society Objectives
- Assist disadvantaged youth athletes
- Offer high-level development training programs
- Build partnerships with international professional soccer clubs
Society Goal
- $60,000 net fundraising target for the 2009/2010 season
Become a Friend of the Highlanders
The Friends of the Highlanders are a consortium of soccer enthusiasts who have a vested interest in creating opportunities for youth athletes on Vancouver Island. For more details on membership for next season, please contact Julie Urquhart at 250-590-8432.

- There are approximately 120,000 registered soccer players in BC-more than football, hockey, basketball and baseball combined.
- Less than 2 dozen soccer players in Victoria have played at a professional level in the last 30 years.
- Registration fees in Victoria cost families about $200/player annually for youth soccer, not including equipment costs.
