Highlanders Awards Gala Winners

The 2nd Annual Victoria Highlanders FC Awards Gala went down wednesday night at the Royal Theatre, to rave reviews.  This years awards ceremony raised the bar in the category of pomp and grandeur, hosting the black tie event in the city's most prestigious theatre.  The catered event was "Academy Awards Style" and featured a dance troup from Dansko Studios who performed two seperate dances and Bagpiper extraodinaire, Nathan Roberts led the crowd into the theatre.  He also was the final performer, leading the audience out of the theatre to the end the show.  The ceremony was co-hosted by Dustin and Brad Finerty and was highlighted by speeches from the club's Owner and President, Alex campbell as well as GM and Vice-President Drew Finerty.  Each award was presented by a representative from the club's major sponsors.

Liz Hansen was the big winner this year, taking home three awards, Offensive Player of the Year, Top Female Scorer, and Women's MVP.  Jordie Hughes won two awards, claiming the PDL Men's Top Scorer and Team MVP respectively.  Women's First Team goalkeeper Stephanie Parker won the club's Most Inspirational Player award and Craig Gorman took home the Fair Play Award, starting the evening off on a fashionable note, accepting his award in proper scottish regalia, including a kilt.

 The evening was masterfully produced by Highlanders Executive Assistant Kelly Brandt.

The Victoria Highlanders are rolling out the red carpet for this year's Awards Gala. Shamrock Entertainment's Dustin and Brad Finerty will serve as hosts for the Victoria Highlanders end of season awards night. The event will be for the players of the Men’s PDL team, the Women’s squad and the Men’s reserve side at the Royal Theater, July 28th. The event, which will commence at 7 pm, will be formal dress. 

   The Highlanders will be providing small finger foods, so it is recommended that people eat before the event. There will also be a cash bar where people 19+ can purchase drinks, and people underage can purchase pop and juice.  Their will be entertainment for the evening alongside the Highlanders very own bagpipers.  Team sponsors and corporate partners will be announcing the awards in addition to some of the Highlanders staff and players.  Anyone is invited to attend, and all ages are welcome. Tickets will be on sale through the Royal McPherson Box Office. 
The year end showcase is presented annually at the conclusion of the Victoria Highlanders FC season and honors its players with several different awards including Team MVP, Top Scorer, and Community Player of the Year.

Date: July 28th, Wednesday evening
Time: Doors open at 6pm, Gala begins at 7:00pm.
