The information below pertains to the 2012 Development Team Program which saw 150 players take part in the Highlanders' Spring program. A great start to our team / travel programs. Thank you all for making it such a success and we are already looking forward to our 2013 Spring program.

With Phase #1 and Phase #2 nearly complete, we now look forward to a successful Phase #3 (Development Team Program) beginning on April 29th.
The Academy in 2011 and 2012 has involved two phases. Phases #1 and # 2 were designed primarily as training & development phases (each phase included 12 sessions - 24 weeks).
Phase #3 will be a competitive developmental segment where players will train twice per week in age group Development Teams in order to play several exhibition games and attend two summer tournaments/exchanges either in the lower mainland or in Washington (Where numbers require, teams may be tiered or players asked to play up or down and age group). Players may participate in Phase #3 even if they have not taken part in Phase #1 or Phase #2.

Goalkeepers: |
Professional Goalkeeper training will be provided by Bob Stankov and VHFC Goalkeeper Academy Staff.
Goalkeepers will train with Bob and his staff in each of their age group training sessions. The U14 and U16 goalkeepers will also receive a third training session on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at Braefoot. |

U10 ('02-03 born): Learning to Train of Canadian Soccer Association's Long Term Player Development Model. To introduce player to The Highlanders' Way which involves the introduction of our Essential Techniques and early introduction to decision making.

U12 ('00-'01 born): Learning to Train moving into Training to Train of Canadian Soccer Association's Long Term Player Development Model. To introduce player to The Highlanders' Way which involves the introduction of our Essential Techniques and development of tactical decision making in small sided games and the transfer to the larger field. U14 ('98-'99 born) & U16 ('96-'97): Training to Train toward Training to Compete phase of Canadian Soccer Association's Long Term Player Development Model. To introduce player to The Highlanders' Way which involves expanding upon the Essential Techniques, Essential Principles of attack and defense with their application to the 11-aside game. |

Optional ACADEMY STYLE PROGRAM
There remains the option in Phase #3 for players to register for 'Academy Style' one training session per week for $350.00 if they cannot make to all sessions and games/tournaments because of other commitments. For this option click HERE and select 'Academy/Prospects 2011-2012' when you register.

Training KIT
All players are required to train in Highlanders' equipment. If players have been part of the Highlanders' programs they will not have to purchase additional KIT.
